Granulation

Granulation of powder and diamond before cold pressing is admittedly an addtional production step that make sense where it is really needed.
However there a lot of reasons that are in favour of using it:

higher mould life (if the diamond as in the Dr. Fritsch system is being granulated into it)
better powder and diamond distribution
better flowability
lower dust exposure
easier cold pressability for difficult bonds
the possibility of using a volumetric coldpress (here granulate is mandatory)
requirement for production of dimaond set segments
